Whirlpool acquired Maytag in 2006, and the brand is now positioned around 'tough' workhorse design within the Whirlpool family.     Bravos / Centennial top-load suspension

    The Bravos and Centennial high-efficiency top-load washers (shared platform with Whirlpool Cabrio) suffer from worn suspension rods that cause loud thumping and machine walking during spin. Routine suspension rod kit replacement.

    F-codes (shared platform with Whirlpool)

    Maytag uses the same F-code system as Whirlpool. F1 = control board, F8 = water inlet, F9 = drain pump, etc. Telling us the code at booking time often lets us arrive with the right part.

    Commercial-Grade washer drum bearings

    The Commercial-Grade washers (MVWP575GW and similar) are built heavier than mainstream washers, but the drum bearings still eventually wear after 8–12 years of frequent use. Bearings are the most expensive Maytag washer repair; on older machines, worth quoting against replacement.

    Top-load lid switch failures

    Maytag top-loaders use a lid switch under the lid that confirms the lid is closed before the spin cycle starts. Worn lid switches stop the machine from spinning. Common, cheap, fast fix.

    Dryer drum belt

    Maytag dryers (and their Whirlpool platform siblings) use a drum belt that runs around the drum and over an idler pulley. The belt wears over years and eventually snaps — symptom is drum that won't turn even though the motor runs. Belt replacement is routine.

Why is my Maytag washer taking forever to drain?
Almost always a clogged drain pump or a kinked drain hose. Top-load Maytag washers (Bravos / Centennial) have a drain pump that can clog with coins, hair, or fabric debris. We diagnose by checking the pump and hose first.
What does the Sd or Sud error mean on my Maytag washer?
Both mean too many suds detected. Usually caused by using regular (non-HE) detergent in an HE washer, or using too much HE detergent. Run an empty hot cycle to clear residue. If the error persists on a normal load with the right detergent, the drain pump or pressure sensor may need attention.
Why does my Maytag washer keep showing F8E1?
F8E1 means the washer didn't fill within the expected time — usually a clogged water inlet valve screen or insufficient water pressure to the machine. Check the inlet screens first (they unscrew); if clean, the valve may need replacement.
How long should a Maytag appliance last?
10–15 years for mainstream Maytag. Commercial-Grade washers often run 15–20 years. Top-load washers tend to outlast front-loaders within the Maytag lineup.
Are Maytag parts interchangeable with Whirlpool parts?

Why is my Maytag top-loader walking across the floor during spin?

Are old Maytag washers (pre-2006) different from newer ones?
Yes — pre-2006 Maytag was an independent company with its own designs (Neptune front-loaders, Atlantis top-loaders, Performa). Some of those designs had specific issues (Neptune door boot, Atlantis transmission). Post-2006 Maytag uses Whirlpool platforms. We service both.
